“The postwar settlement led to the partition of Ottoman lands between the victorious powers and laid the groundwork for the ongoing conflicts that continue to plague the modern Arab world.” One sweeping conclusion that makes the book and its authorship suspect. The groundwork for the ongoing problems in the Middle East was the over 400 years of brutal Ottoman colonisation and NOT the 25 odd years of then Western powers!
Wake up people, stop this Edward Said style victimization and quilt trips.

Should be a good read, although I have to agree with marcodiluce; that statement sounds a bit to much of an excuse.
